Not sure if this has ever been seen on a baseball diamond before. Switch hitter meets switch pitcher:

Are Melky’s days numbered? Brett Gardner called up today. Platoon time for the Melkman? Or are Matsui and/or Damon injured worse than they are reporting? Doubt they would have called him up unless they intend to play him because he was not on the 40 man roster.
I’ll be watching the post ASB boom — at Shea. I’m still predicting 87 wins for the Mets, and that will be enough with the parity in the NL east. Pedro and Santana are about to go on a roll with Maine, Big Pelf and Ollie P. following their lead. You gotta admit, Big Pelf was lighting up the radar gun at the Stadium Friday afternoon. DW will have another big second half. Beltran is due for a homer binge. Delgado is showing some signs of life and had a good second half last year. Heilman has turned the corner. And the return of both Alou and church will give us a real major league lineup once again. The key is keeping Alou healthy. I hope that Manuel has the sense to sit him at least 2 games a week for Chavez.
Just can’t see the Yanks going on the kind of run they will need to overcome the Rays and the Sox. With the Wanger done for the year, the starting pitching is pretty bad, and it’s hard to sustain winning streaks with bad/inconsistent pitching. In fact, I feel that your starters have overchieved and suspect that they will falter as the offense improves. Moose ain’t gonna keep it up. Joba a young stud, but still a work in progress. Pondscum blows. Rasner blows. Pettitte is due for some elbow woes. And while I expect the offense to improve, this is not last year’s offense. Melky blows, Jeter is showing his age, and while Matsui and Damon can still rake, they just can’t stay healthy for an extended period. And Posada can’t catch anymore. He’s throwing like Piazza did in 2004.
By the way, Girardi should be shot for not bunting last night. What a dope. I’m sticking with 86 wins and third place.
also, not sure if anyone told you, but the Yankees have a little bit of money to make trades work if the prospects dont swing the deal. and hughes and kennedy will both be back.
But Cash seems pretty reluctant to trade legitimate prospects for a rental player, and to get anyone decent this year, it will take legitimate prospects. It’ll be interesting to see what, if anything, he does. If Yanks stay close (which they probably will), it’ll be pretty hard for him to justify standing pat. If they fall 10 games back, it would be pretty stupid to do anything.

My prediction of 86 wins is looking pretty good as the Yanks are now on pace for 85.
Sorry about Sunday. Long story. Let’s re-schedule for a Saturday sometime soon.

past the point of retorts. I’ll stick with a “just wait” attitude.
